On FEU’s New Policies.

"In case you haven’t noticed, the skills needed by today’s chief information officers have evolved. CIOs used to have to be tech savvy enough to suss out the niceties of upgrades and migrations and direct them. Now they need to know tech but also be practitioners of the “softer arts” of cooperation, persuasion and communication that go far beyond the IT department and even their end users."

HAPPY NEW YEAR on We Heart Ithttp://weheartit.com/entry/93606480/via/isabelm2
"1. New beginnings are invigorating.
2. Endings are just as invigorating and also necessary. Don’t be afraid to end it, whatever ‘it’ is.
3. Change doesn’t happen in a day.
4. Neither does weightless really, so when you still weigh the same after a week, don’t give up completely.
5. I’m also a big believer in personal days. Take time for yourself. Love and take care of you. You’re worth it.
6. Have dessert. No further explanation needed.
7. When he calls you to say he’s sorry and that he’s changed, hang up the phone because you’ve changed too. You’re deserve more than empty promises.
8. Buy those shoes, or maybe that jumper you’ve been looking at. Or both. Both are good.
9. Your parents love you. Really, they do. Love them back, they won’t be around forever.
10. Smile more. Smiles are fun and pretty and you look gorgeous when you do it. So smile, okay?
11. Realising that not everyday is going to be a good day is freeing. Life has downs too, more than we generally like to acknowledge..but you won’t be stuck forever.
12. Take your time. In all things. Life, sex, eating food. Savour every single moment.
13. Don’t worry if you haven’t got your life figured out yet. Or your plans after university. Or your next holiday. Or maybe what you’re going to have for dinner. Hardly anyone has anything figured out, really.
14. You’ll get where you’re going eventually. You’ll end up where you need to be. You’re doing great where you are. I’m proud of you, you should be too."

"This year I will sleep more and cry more.
I will learn how to listen to my body,
How to feed her when she’s hungry
And not when she is bored, or lonely.
This year is about putting away apologies—
Shaking the old dust out of my bones,
Getting rid of people and places
That have stopped feeling like home.
.
This year is about the deep kind of soul searching
Reserved for brooding men in classic literature.
This year is for falling in love with all the ways
I am able to feel.
My world is vibrant and alive
And to numb myself would be to waste this body
To waste this breath.
.
Somewhere, billions of years ago,
A star died to put the marrow in my bones
And I ought to make good use of that.
.
I am the result of ten million factors all
Working against me ever coming into existence
And I am here anyway.
.
How could I forget that the same skin
That houses all my anxieties also holds
The same kind of rain that fills oceans?
I have a small lightning storm brewing
In the barrel of my ribs,
How could I forget that?
.
This year, I will be kind to my body,
Because she has always been kind to me.
Because she has entire orchestras beneath her fingernails,
And after so many years,
She deserves a good audience.
.
I am too young to feel so old.
This is the year I change that."
